About Terry Butler
Terry Butler began his journey in the arts with a BFA from the University of Michigan. He took his first dance lessons at the age of 45 and was immediately hooked. After many years as a K-8 art teacher and professional artist, he began teaching social dance in 2010 at Eastern Michigan University. Terry has also taught dance classes at the Ann Arbor YMCA and the University of Michigan Ballroom Dance Club.
“When I discovered I had a passion for dance, I felt like I had discovered a missing part of my life”
Terry says. “The expression, movement and connection that students experience through dance can be life altering, and I would like to pass on to my students some of what I have found rewarding through dancing.”
Terry hopes to build a foundation and love of dance in his students, so that they may be able to continue and dance their way through life.
