About Elisabeth Z. Thoburn

Elisabeth Z. Thoburn was born in Dresden, (East) Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1985. She is an art historian, educator, public speaker, and world traveler who teaches art history, mythology, and humanities classes at Washtenaw Community College. She received her Master’s degree in both Western and Asian art from the University of Michigan in 1994 and has been teaching at WCC ever since. Her travel experiences directly enhance and inform her teaching materials and methods. She loves the outdoors. Her hobbies include photography, learning the guitar, her grandchildren, and attending ceramic classes at WCC. She deeply cares about her students and loves her work.

Received a Double-Master's degree in Eastern and Western History of Art from the University of Michigan
