About Ruth Walsh
I have been so fortunate to have worked in all three components of the Criminal Justice System. Like many of my students, I worked my way through college. This was one of my best decisions as the contacts I made were invaluable. I started working in Toledo Municipal Court where I networked with police officer, lawyers and judges. Once I graduated, I applied for and was one of the first "Policewomen" to be hired by Toledo Police in many years! I worked for Toledo Police as a Sexual Assault detective and a Juvenile Delinquency Detective. Wanting "street" experience, I applied for and was hired by Maumee Police Department and worked for several years as a Patrol Officer before again ending up in the Detective Bureau. While working as a Police Officer I began law school. After graduating from law school, I practiced law for a period of time before getting hired as Director of Security for a large metropolitan Medical Center. Along the way, I began teaching at Owens Community College and found I loved sharing my experience with students of similar interests. I knew I had found my "calling" when I was hired by WCC many years ago!
