Canvas is the core platform for teaching and learning at WCC. Whether you're teaching on campus, online, or in a blended format, Canvas provides the structure and tools needed to deliver a consistent and accessible learning experience for students.
Canvas Use by Course Type
Faculty use Canvas in every course to ensure a familiar and reliable experience for students. Here’s how Canvas supports instruction across different course types:
- On-Campus – Use Canvas to post your syllabus, communicate with students, share materials, and maintain your gradebook.
- Blended (MM) & Virtual (V) – Canvas is used to deliver required content and activities between scheduled sessions.
- Online (DL) – Canvas serves as the complete learning environment for instruction, interaction, grading, and feedback.
Behind the Scenes: System-Wide Course Support
Canvas at WCC is part of a larger enterprise system designed to streamline and strengthen the student experience. The CiTL works together to ensure your courses are ready each term. This includes:
- Setting up Blueprint courses for all online and blended sections
- Copying content to faculty course shells each semester
- Managing Student Opinion Questionnaires (SOQs) within Canvas
- Integrating third-party tools (e.g., publisher content, video platforms)
- Providing data insights to support student success and retention
